A teacher who admitted having sex with two 17-year-old students has avoided jail.
Haeli Noelle Wey, 28, had sex with one student more than 10 times after joining his family for a ministry trip to Africa in 2015.
She then became involved with another student the same summer during a hike, in which she suggested he bring a hammock.
After the encounter she reportedly asked him to delete the Instagram messages from his phone afterwards, reports the New York Daily News.
The high school teacher was placed on 10-year probation and will serve 200 hours of required community service.
Her attorney Larry Sauer, said the punishment was ‘reasonable’, Fox 7 Austin reported.
‘Basically, as long as she completes everything without any problems then the case will be dismissed and she will never have been convicted of a felony.’
However, others have expressed disgust at the outcome, saying a male teacher would have been treated mores harshly.
